Occupational health in India

In India occupational health is an issue that is being ignored by Indian industries & enforcement agencies. People working in different industries (specifically workers) are exposed to dangerous occupational hazards. In middle level & small level organizations work condition is horrible. Workers are not provided even basic PPE's(personnel protective equipments). Even basic facilities like drinking water are not available in many cases. Approximately in 60% companies from organized & un-organized sectors ESI facility is not provided to workers. Companies are taking OHSAS 18001 certification just for marketing benefits. Even in OHSAS 18001 certified company’s situation is pitiable. I suggest every organization willing to obtain OHSAS 18001 certification, to implement the requirements of standard first. There are many websites which claim that they provide complete information on OHSAS 18001 but none of them even define it properly. To provide people proper information on OHSAS 18001 we have come up with our new website www.ohsas.in . You must go through this website if you are planning for OHSAS 18001 certification
